There’s 2 movies we’ve seen lately that I would highly recommend watching. ‘The Vow’, I know total chick flick, and ‘We bought a Zoo’, also super cute. I’ve watched both quite a few times already. Granted it did take me a couple days to make it through them the first place, but that’s what happens when you have a really cute tiny human hanging around, and that’s ok because that’s what pvr’s are for.
Ok, so those movies really have nothing to do with this spicy hummus, but I thought I would share them anyways.
I’ve only found a few hummus’s that I really like. There’s one from Costco, a Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, love that one. And well, this one. It’s spicy, packed with flavor and works really great as a dip served with crackers, or as a spread on a sandwich.
For dipping, I prefer Wheat thins. And if you go the sandwich route, try spreading it on a 9 Grain Ciabatta bun, toasted, with cucumber, avocado, tomato and spinach. You will not be let down!
This lasted roughly 2, maybe 2 1/2 days in our house, only because we devoured it.
(Adapted from White on Rice)
1 19oz can of Chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp Sambal Oelek Hot Chili Paste, more or less to taste
3 Small garlic Cloves, minced
1/2 tsp medium curry powder
1/4 cup water, more or less depending on thickness
1 tbsp lime juice, about 1/4 fresh lime
In a blender or food processor, combine all ingredients and blend well.
After about a minute, scrape down the sides with a spatula and continue blending until smooth.
Test dip for flavor, if it needs more water, chili paste, lime, etc. Transfer to bowl and serve with crackers….. Or grab a spoon and eat it alone, like Scotty.

homemade hummus the best.try cooking dried chick peas. You will find the consistency better than canned and a ton less salt.Make a little extra and add CP to your salads and tabouleh. One of UM fav as you key recall.Aloha AC
I’ve never tried the dried version, will definitely need to try one day. Thanks!
